Disaster Recovery Centers Open Across Missouri

Springfield, MO -- Federal and state recovery officials today announced plans to open five more Disaster Recovery Centers this week to provide disaster relief information to Missourians affected by the recent severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.
On Tuesday, May 20, Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Camdenton and Jackson. On Wednesday, May 21, centers will open in Bolivar, Canton and Desoto. The Bolivar center will remain open through May 24. All other centers will be open Monday through Saturday, until further notice.
These five new Disaster Recovery Centers, like the six already open in Missouri, are coordinated by the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
"Our Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide an opportunity for those affected by the recent disaster to talk to a recovery specialist face-to-face about the various assistance programs available," explained Mike Karl, FEMAs federal coordinating officer.
Visiting a Disaster Recovery Center is not required. However, given the wide range of state and federal disaster assistance programs, many people find it helpful to utilize this resource. Recovery Centers are free and open to the public. Missourians affected by the disaster are encouraged to visit any Recovery Center.
Recovery officials encourage citizens to first apply for disaster assistance by calling the toll-free application number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Persons who are hearing- or speech-impaired can apply by calling a special TTY number: 1-800-462-7565. Multilingual operators also are available when needed.

The Disaster Recovery Centers will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice at the following locations:
