Nashville, TN -- A mobile disaster recovery center will be set up in Dyersburg, Tenn., Sunday and Monday (May 18-19) to provide information on assistance to families and individuals who sustained property losses in the severe storms and tornadoes that hit Tennessee in May.
The recovery center, housed in a motor home, will locate at No. 1 Fire Station, 216 Church Ave. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with staff available to answer questions and allow those who have first registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to check the status of their applications.
The mobile recovery center will visit other communities under a schedule to be announced. In addition, the newly declared disaster counties will be served by recovery centers at locations still to be determined.
To receive assistance, residents of declared counties must register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) toll-free between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week . Those with speech or hearing impairments can use the TDD number, 1-800-462-7585.
In addition to state and federal disaster specialists, a representative of the U.S. Small Business Administration will be on hand to answer questions about available low-interest loans for storm-damaged homes and businesses and assist residents with loan applications.
