Jackson, MS -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will visit Walthall County to bring state and federal assistance information directly to those affected by the April 6th through 25th severe storms, tornadoes and flooding. Due to the severity of storm damages occurring after the initial declaration period - April 6 through 14 - the period of eligibility for disaster assistance has been extended to include people who suffered storm related losses between April 6th through 25th, 2003.
The mobile unit, a satellite-equipped FEMA bus, will visit the county to advise residents, face-to-face, on obtaining the disaster aid they are eligible to receive.
The mobile DRC will be in Walthall County on Monday and Tuesday, May 26 and 27, at the Walthall County Library, 707 Union Road, Tylertown, Miss., and will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Staffed by disaster assistance specialists from FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and other state agencies, the mobile unit will provide information on the various forms of disaster assistance available and will enable those who already have applied for assistance to check the status of their applications.
