COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Victims of the April 29-May 19 storms and severe flooding now have an additional one-day grace period in which to register for assistance.

The official deadline to register for aid was set as July 15. However, because of an earlier miscalculation and to coincide with the work week, registrations will now be accepted through the close of business on Friday, July 16.

Homeowners, renters, and businesses who were affected by the floods, storms, high winds and hail between April 29 and May 19 can register for federal and state assistance by calling toll-free 1-800-462-9029 (or, for the speech- and hearing-impaired, 1-800-462-7585) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. More than $6.4 million in federal aid had been authorized by the close of business July 8.
