Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Crawford, La Crosse and Richland Counties

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) announce the opening of Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Crawford, La Crosse and Richland counties on Thursday, Aug. 30, for people affected by the severe storms and flooding that began August 18, 2007.

Disaster victims are urged to register for assistance first by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. The telephone numbers operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. Victims also can register online at www.fema.gov and can visit a DRC to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists.

Representatives of state and federal agencies, as well as customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will be available to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs also are available to individuals and business owners. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at DRCs. These centers are for the dissemination of information to assist in victim recovery.

The following DRCs will open from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday and thereafter from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice:
