Telephone Registration Hours Change

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Telephone registration hours have changed to 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hawaii Standard Time, seven days a week, State and Federal disaster-recovery officials announced today. The change is effective today, Monday, November 6.
"The adjustment in hours for telephone registrations reflects a significant drop in the number of people who have been calling between 6 and 8 p.m.," said Ed Teixeira, state coordinating officer. "This is a strong indication that many of those who need to register for disaster assistance have already done so."
Those who have not registered for assistance can still do so by calling calling toll-free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Hawaii residents also can register online at www.fema.gov.
FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident, initiates mitigation activities and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA works closely with state and local emergency managers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters and other first responders. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
