Disaster Recovery Centers In Florence And Clio To Close

Columbia, S.C. -- State and federal officials announced today that two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will be closing at the end of this week.
The DRC at the Florence Civic Center in Florence (Florence County) will close at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 15. The DRC next to the Old Clio Clerk's Office in Clio (Marlboro County) will close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16.
"Disaster Recovery Centers are opened temporarily after a Presidential disaster declaration to assist residents in their recovery," said Mike Bolch, FEMA's federal coordinating officer. Disaster victims may still obtain information regarding the status of their applications by calling FEMA's toll-free number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Hearing or speech impaired individuals can call the TTY toll-free number 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone numbers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week until further notice. Individuals can also find valuable recovery information on the agency's website at http://www.fema.gov.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
