Bismarck, N.D. -- A stream of short videos on the flood fight in North Dakota is regularly being updated on the Web as the rivers rise.

Topics include sandbagging operations in Fargo, ice-blasting operations in Bismarck, trucks rolling out from Denver, how distribution points for giving out food and other items are set up, and a message from Secretary Janet Napolitano of the Department of Homeland Security.

The videos feature emergency responders such as the North Dakota National Guard and Bismarck floodplain manager Ray Ziegler. They are produced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help the public see disaster response in action.

Five videos are available on www.youtube.com/fema. One shows the sandbagging operations and dike watch in Fargo, another the National Guard helicopters at work on ice-blasting operations in Bismarck, a third listens to Bismarck floodplain manager Ray Ziegler discussing the ice jam and inspection of homes in an evacuated area, and a fourth shows emergency communication vehicles rolling out of Denver on their way north. The fifth is Secretary Napolitano’s message to the states involved in the flood fight.

Three videos are available on www.fema.gov/medialibrary. They show Secretary Napolitano’s message, the communication trucks rolling out of Denver and an instructional video on how to set up a “Point of Distribution” for giving out supplies in emergencies.
