Nashville, TN -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) have announced the next two weeks operational hours for the three Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) and two SBA workshops located in the Memphis area.

The DRCs and SBA workshops are open to assist residents of Fayette and Shelby counties who sustained damages during the July 21st - 22nd, 2003, severe storms, high winds and heavy rain. The offices, their locations, hours of operation and closed dates are as follows:

The deadline to apply for federal and state disaster assistance is Monday, September 29, 2003. Anyone who has not yet applied for disaster assistance should do so now by calling FEMA's application line, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing impaired.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages Citizen Corps, the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
