New Location For Disaster Recovery Center In East Chicago

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Due to operational conflicts, the FEMA/Indiana Department of Homeland Security Disaster Recovery Center scheduled to open at Riley Park on Friday has been moved to a new facility. The center will open as scheduled at 3 p.m. today. The new center location will be:

Public Service Facility (Conference Room)
4444 Railroad Avenue
East Chicago

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice.

The two other Disaster Recovery Centers in Lake County are located at:

Highland:
Lincoln Center
2450 Lincoln Street      
 
Gary:
Genesis Convention Center 
One Genesis Center Plaza (U.S. Hwy 20 & SR 53)

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
