Scott County Receives Immediate Needs Funding

Little Rock, AR -- More than $250,000 in disaster assistance has just been approved for Scott County by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for damages caused by ice storms beginning Dec. 12. The money is to meet the county's initial cleanup needs, and is the first installment of federal aid to Scott County.
The approval comes within three days of the county's application, as part of FEMA's Immediate Needs Fund (INF). This Fund has been set up to expedite the process of getting monies to communities that have suffered a Presidentially-declared disaster and need immediate help with debris removal and emergency protective services.
Communities may be eligible to receive up to 50 percent of the total damage assessment for debris removal and emergency protective services through INF, if they demonstrate an immediate need.
Additional funds to cover communities' remaining recovery needs are released as soon as their project applications are received and reviewed. FEMA assistance to state and affected local governments is on a cost-share basis.
