Texarkana, TX -- Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Titus and Fannin counties to provide information about help available to residents and businesses with damage or losses resulting from the severe winter storms of Dec. 12 to Jan. 15.

Operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Division of Emergency Management (DEM), Texas Department of Public Safety, each center will have information from various federal, state, local, and voluntary agencies about programs triggered as a result of the Jan. 8 Presidential disaster declaration. This includes disaster loan programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The schedule is as follows:

TITUS COUNTY
Titus County Courthouse Annex
105 West 1st Street
Mount Pleasant, Texas
Hours of operation
Monday, Feb. 5: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 6: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
FANNIN COUNTY
South Annex (former church)
Center Street & 3rd
Bonham, Texas
Hours of operation
Tuesday, Feb. 6: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 7: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Federal Coordinating Officer Gracia Szczech encourages those who have questions about the recovery process to visit the center after first calling FEMA to register for assistance. "It is a good opportunity for people to sit down and talk with staff members who will be able to answer their questions," he said.

"At the centers people can inquire about the status of their applications, examine options for rebuilding or repairing structures, and learn methods to protect their lives and properties better in future ice storms," State Coordinating Officer Richard Boltz said.

Those with storm--related damage and losses who have not yet registered for assistance should do so as soon as possible by calling 800--462--9029, 800--462--7585 (TTY) for the speech and hearing impaired.
