Augusta Postal Service Resumes Street Delivery to Flood Areas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Richard Bishop, Postmaster of the Augusta, Kansas Post Office announced today that the U. S. Postal Service has resumed street delivery to the flood affected areas.
Bishop added, "We realize that some of you will not have returned to your homes or may not return in the immediate future. To assist us in handling your mail, we need every affected customer to give us the information we need to deliver your mail. I truly understand each and every one of your predicaments and we are doing our best not to add to your problems."
If your residence was flooded and you had to relocate, you can help the Postal Service deliver your mail by:
- Providing a temporary change of address,
- providing a permanent change of address if you are not returning to your residence, or
- provide written instructions to continue to hold your mail.

Homeowners, renters, farmers, agricultural producers, and business owners who sustained damage as a result of the severe storms and flooding between October 30 and November 15 should register with FEMA for disaster assistance.
It takes about 15 minutes to register by phone at: 1-800-462-9029. TTY service is available at 1-800-462-7585 for anyone who is hearing or speech impaired. The registration numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CST), Monday through Friday.
