LNG - Section on Population Genetics and Linkage (SPGL)


Mission Statement:

  1. Develops and applies statistical methods to investigate the epidemiology and inheritance of alcoholism and related psychiatric disorders in populations and pedigrees;
  2. performs automated DNA marker typing and conducts two- and multi-point genetic linkage analysis using parametric and non-parametric methods;
  3. investigates disease frequencies in population isolates by integrating information on inbreeding and founder effects into linkage and transmission analysis; and
  4. studies extent and meaning of genetic variation in human populations.
