Bismarck, N.D. -- The Beulah Disaster Recovery Center will close on Wednesday, April 29.

That will be the last day for Mercer County residents who have been affected by the flooding that began on March 13 to visit their local Disaster Recovery Center, which is run by the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services (NDDES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Beulah Disaster Recovery Center, located at the Beulah Civic Center, has recovery program representatives available to help answer questions about assistance.

"The recovery center offers a great chance to meet face to face with representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration," said NDDES Deputy Director Greg Wilz. "But if you don't get to the center before it closes, you can still get help from the SBA by calling (800) 659-2955. They can answer questions about the SBA disaster-loan program and help people fill out their disaster loan applications."

SBA disaster help and information is also available by calling SBA's Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or visiting SBA's website at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance. Hearing impaired individuals may call (800) 877-8339.

Individuals may also access SBA's online Electronic Loan Application (ELA) at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.

Officials plan to open Disaster Recovery Centers in additional counties this week.

"Just because the Beulah center is closing does not mean FEMA is leaving," said FEMA's Federal Coordinating Officer Justo "Tito" Hernandez. "We will be here as long as it takes. If you have not registered yet, or have questions about your application or our programs, call us toll free at 1-800-621-FEMA or TTY 1-800-462-7585, or go online at www.disasterassistance.gov."

The Beulah Disaster Recovery Center will be open through Wednesday, April 29, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. The Mercer County Disaster Recovery Center is located at

Beulah Civic Center
120 7th St. NE
Beulah, Mercer County

Residents affected by the severe storms and flooding that began on March 13 who plan to stop by any Disaster Recovery Center are urged to register for assistance before their visit. Residents can register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 or visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov online. The registration line is open daily from 6 a.m. - midnight CDT until further notice. The call is free.

People who want to protect themselves against damage from future disasters can also get expert advice at the recovery centers about cost-effective ways to rebuild.
