Summer Research Experiences for Students and Science Educators

Program Overview

NCRR is offering administrative supplements to support summer research experiences for students and science educators.

These supplements are intended to encourage students to pursue research careers in the health-related sciences, as well as provide elementary, middle school and high school teachers, community college faculty, and faculty from non-research intensive institutions with short-term research experiences in NIH-funded laboratories.

Support for these supplements will come from funds provided to NIH through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009, Public Law 111-5.

Eligibility

NCRR-supported investigators and U.S. institutions or organizations with active NIH Research Grants (R), Research Program and Center Grants (P and G) or Cooperative Agreements (U) are eligible to apply.

Only one application per award is permitted, however, supplements to support both research opportunities for high school students as well as research opportunities for science educators can be requested in the same application.

How to Apply

Applications are due by April 27, 2009. For complete application instructions, as well as a basic program description, see NIH Guide notice NOT-OD-09-060external link, opens in new window.
