The Afternoon Tornado

Julia's mother stood at the door to her room, with her hands on her hips. "This room looks like a tornado hit it," Julia's mom said. She was mad.

Julia couldn't argue. Clothes and shoes and toys were scattered over the floor and her bed as if put there by a strong wind. "I'll clean it up later, Mom. I promise," Julia said. "Can I go out and play now? The weatherman said there would be thunderstorms later. I'll clean it up then."

Julia's mother was thinking it over when Robbie, Julia's twin, stuck his head through the door. "I'll even help her, Mom," Robbie said. "Can we go out and play? Please?"

What a messy room!
