Priorities & Program Divisions

Division of Aging Biology (DAB)

Supports research to enhance and extend the human health span by identifying opportunities to better understand the mechanisms of aging.
 

Division of Behavioral and Social Research (DBSR)

Supports basic social and behavioral research and research training on the processes of aging at both the individual and societal level.
 

Division of Neuroscience (DN)

Supports extramural research and training to further the understanding of the aging process in the structure and functioning of the nervous system.
 

Division of Geriatrics and Clinical Gerontology (DGCG)

Supports research on health and disease in the aged and research on aging over the human lifespan, including its relationships to health outcomes.

International Activities

Background and contact information for international research supported by NIA. These research programs are collaborative with international partners under negotiated agreements. NIH’s Fogarty International Center promotes research in biomedical sciences with foreign scientists and researchers.
