NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will host a Pre-Proposal Industry Day in Harahan, LA on Tuesday, February, 3, 2009.

The purpose of the Industry Day is to present information to local businesses on an upcoming contract for the maintenance, deactivation, hauling and installing of manufactured homes in the state of Louisiana as a result of past hurricanes.

Key personnel from FEMA and other government personnel will be on hand to explain aspects of this opportunity regarding temporary housing units and to answer questions. Additionally, in order to support and further foster successful business participation in the recovery effort, an educational seminar on how to prepare contracts and bids for federal opportunities will be conducted.

The Industry Day event is free and open to all interested businesses, although local businesses in the disaster areas are especially encouraged to attend since contracts will be awarded for work throughout the state of Louisiana.

The event will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 800 W. Commerce St, Harahan, LA 70123. Those planning to attend should send an e-mail to the Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (LA PTAC), at PRS6182@LOUISIANA.EDU, with their name and the number of people attending.

Throughout the contract acquisition process, FEMA will be posting updates to upcoming acquisitions, including questions and answers, on www.FedBizOpps.gov. For a complete list of resources on how to do business with FEMA, visit www.fema.gov/business/contractor.shtm
