Environmental Assessment for Deshka River Steward's Cabin Replacement Project, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proposing to support the Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) by providing partial funding to replace a damaged recreation area Deshka River Steward’s cabin, located near the shoreline of the Deshka River, near Willow, Alaska The small (16 x 16-foot) cabin was submerged under 5 feet of water because of river flooding caused by severe rainfall from August 15 to August 25, 2006.The MSB needs to provide a River Steward’s cabin that is available each summer season as a base to manage heavy public use of MSB recreation lands along the Deshka River.

Environmental Assessment for Cascade Trail Repair Project, Denali State Park, Alaska
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proposing to support the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, by providing partial funding to repair damaged segments along the existing Cascade Trail, in Denali State Park. Heavy rains in the region in August 2006 caused extensive damage to portions of the trail. The proposed federal action by FEMA is to provide partial project funding to the DNR to repair portions of Cascade Trail that were damaged during floods in 2006 (FEMA disaster project 1663-DR-AK). The purpose of the project is for DNR to improve trail environmental and safety conditions for hikers that affect portions of the Cascade Trail. The need for the project is for DNR to continue to provide park users safe access to Kesugi Ridge and to provide access to and from the Kesugi Ridge backcountry in case of emergency.

Environmental Assessment for Troublesome Creek Trail Repair Project, Denali State Park, Alaska
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is proposing to support the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, by providing partial funding to repair damaged segments along the existing Troublesome Creek Trail, in Denali State Park. Heavy rains in the region in August 2006 caused Troublesome Creek to rise more than 7 feet and overflow its banks onto the Troublesome Creek Trail. In some portions of the damaged trail, repair work is needed along the existing alignment. The proposed federal action by FEMA is to provide partial project funding to the DNR to repair portions of Troublesome Creek Trail that were damaged during floods in 2006 (FEMA disaster project 1663-DR-AK). The purpose of the project is for FEMA to provide access to areas of Denali State Park that are limited due to damage to the Troublesome Creek Trail from storms and subsequent floods in 2006.
