Eligibility and Funding

Total Funding Available in FY 2009: $34,002,500

There are eleven (11) high-risk, high-consequence urban areas that have been pre-designated as eligible for FY 2009. These eleven (11) urban areas are contained within the ten (10) RCPGP sites. Pursuant to the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-161), the seven (7) Tier 1 urban areas were pre-designated as eligible for these allocations. Additionally, DHS selected four (4) Tier 2 urban areas as eligible applicants, including the Boston Area, Seattle Area, Norfolk Area, and Honolulu Area, to be representative of the risks, hazards, and operational structures around the Nation. These Tier 2 urban areas were selected based on the criteria requirement of appropriations language to focus on all hazard and catastrophic events.
