Our Success Lies With Our Staff

The FEMA Map Assistance Center (FMAC) management team places a strong emphasis on continuous training and staff development to ensure that each Map Specialist is fully versed in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) rules and regulations, as well as mapping and technological advances. When call volume is light, staff members hone their skills and knowledge through completion of special assignments, training sessions, and online tutorials. For example, FMAC Map Specialists process Letter of Map Change (LOMC) cases during times in which they are not handling phone inquiries. This work provides direct involvement with the LOMC process and gives them insight into common caller questions. Some of the Map Specialists have completed specialized training courses in floodplain management, NFIP regulations, and the Emergency Management Institute.

We welcome your comments on the FMAC. Feel free to contact John Magnotti via e-mail at john.magnotti@dhs.gov.
