FY 2006 Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Program

Program Information

On October 18, 2005, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act (P.L. 109-90) authorized up to $40 million for State allocations for Planning, Project and Technical Assistance grants, and for administrative costs to support the FY 2006 FMA program.  Availability of FMA funds is dependent upon the amount available for transfer from the NFIF through offset collections assessed and collected under the NFIP.

Priority:  The FY 2006 FMA priority is to fund flood mitigation activities that fund flood mitigation activities that reduce the number of repetitive loss structures currently insured by the NFIP, and specifically, on addressing target repetitive loss properties identified in FEMA’s Repetitive Loss Strategy.  Applications for FY 2006 FMA funds will be accepted for eligible, cost-effective flood mitigation activities that will reduce the risk of flood losses to any property currently insured under the NFIP, whether repetitive loss or not.

The FY 2006 FMA Program Guidance provides additional information regarding the FY 2006 FMA program.  The FY 2006 FMA Program Guidance is available from the FEMA Library.
