Network Security Services

The Network Security Section (NSS) protects the integrity and confidentiality of critical and sensitive data transmissions on NIHnet. NSS executes this mission by providing security services focused on strategy, prevention, and event detection & response. ICs can leverage this expertise by engaging NSS to provide firewall or IDS/IPS services. Within the NIHnet infrastructure, NSS has deployed more than 100 firewalls and intrusion detection systems to limit unauthorized network access. Firewalls are deployed in redundant configurations to ensure high availability. NSS maintains the basic network configuration, configures the software and hardware, and provides backup and monitoring of the devices. Firewall rulesets are determined by the customer; however NSS will provide Tier 2 support and expertise as requested. IDS/IPS services are available, pricing is determined after a requirements analysis has been completed.
