receive continuation funding (Type 2 renewal), bridge funding, or other similar
funding to continue ongoing activities and commitments? 2. The announcement indicates that direct cost of the supplement request cannot exceed the direct cost
of the parent award. Does this refer to each individual supplement or
does it refer to the combined total of all supplements requested? Funding Caps for NCRR Recovery Act-Supported Administrative Supplements 3. If two or more NCRR awardees, such as two Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) sites, or one CTSA and one
Biomedical Technology Research Center, wish to collaborate on a single project, can each site receive up to
the specified dollar cap? 4. What are “linked” applications and how would this change the
answer to the previous question? 5. Who can answer questions regarding the various Administrative
Supplement announcements? 6. Is the PI of the parent grant required to serve as the PI on the supplement request? Can
his/her effort be concurrent with what is already budgeted? 7. Where can applicants find the goals of the Recovery Act? 8. Some of the topic areas are very broad. Can the application address
only parts of the topic area or must it address the whole topic? 9. Are appendices allowed as part of an application for the Administrative
Supplements? Questions and Answers Applicable to the Topic Areas Noted1. NCRR Administrative Supplements to Advance Translational (T1 & T2) Research1a. Can applicants request an Administrative Supplement for a T1 project and at the
same time serve as a subcontractor? 1b. How should an applicant prepare the justification for requests between $500,000 and $1,000,000
total costs per year due? 2. NCRR Administrative Supplements for the CTSA Consortium Strategic Goals2a. Should the application address all four goals or should it address just one
goal? 2b. To be responsive in an Recovery Act administrative supplement to support Strategic Goal 1, must applications address all the topics
specified in the announcement? 2c. If the parent award did not specify an improvement in clinical research
management that includes modeling and mentoring process improvement, improved
study design and novel statistical approaches for other CTSA sites, are these
activities within scope for the purposes of Recovery Act funding? 2d. Can multiple CTSAs submit an application together and if so, can they
submit for more than $300K? 2e. Can a single CTSA be named on more than
one multiple PI administrative supplement requests? 2f. To support Strategic Goal Enhancing the Health of Our Communities and the Nation,
it would appear that a measure of effectiveness might be required. Is this
correct? If so, what measure of effectiveness would be considered responsive? 3. NCRR Administrative Supplements for Enhancing NCRR Pilot Project Mechanism3a. Are General Clinical Research Centers (GCRCs) eligible for the NCRR Administrative Supplements for Pilot Projects? 3b. To be responsive to the NCRR Administrative Supplements for Enhancing NCRR
Pilot Project Mechanism, must the pilot program be new or address different
areas of research? 4. NCRR Administrative Supplements for Collaborative Community Engagement Research4a. Define what you mean by Community-Based Organization? 4b. Can the collaboration take place between an Academic Health Centers (AHC)
and a community partner who are geographically separated? 4c. Does the collaboration need to be between NCRR programs or can they be
between an NCRR program and a community-based partner? 4d. Is funding provided to institutions that have been awarded the NCRR parent
grant or subcontracts? 5. NCRR Administrative Supplements for Research Workforce Development and Dissemination 5a. Why are GCRCs not listed as eligible for the NCRR Administrative Supplements
for the Research Workforce Development and Dissemination Administrative supplements? 5b. Can an institution that has been awarded a previous NCRR administrative
supplement addressing workforce training apply for Recovery Act funding in the “Research
Workforce Development and Dissemination Administrative supplements” category? 5c. Can applicants apply to increase the number of slots in the KL2 or TL1 components
of their CTSA programs for the purposes of workforce development? 5d. Can applicants use NCRR Administrative Supplements for Research Workforce Development
and Dissemination funds to support mentoring at their CTSA sites? 5e. Will Recovery Act supplements support trainees from lesser known fields of science
to clinical research i.e., an imaging physicist? 5f. Can applicants use the NCRR Administrative Supplements for Research Workforce Development
and Dissemination funds to support an existing R13/U13 training meeting conference
grant? 6. NCRR Administrative Supplements for Science Education and Dissemination6a. Would a proposal for a project to fund an undergraduate summer training program as well
