Tijuanna DeCoster came to the NINDS as the Chief Grants Management Officer in April, 2007. In this capacity, she is responsible for supervising and directing the Grants Management Branch. She monitors and evaluates the overall grants process to ensure all required business management actions are performed by the grantee and the government in a timely manner, both prior to and after the award. She provides advice, guidance, and technical assistance as required on issues related to work assignments, and general goals of the GMB, DER and NINDS.

Prior to coming to the NINDS, she worked as a Policy Advisor for the U.S. Department of Justice. She was instrumental in developing and establishing the Missing Adult Program during Hurricane Katrina. She also worked as a Budget Analyst with the U.S. Department of Commerce and was a Senior Consultant in Grants with KPMG Consulting, Inc. She began her grants career with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in 1989 and rose to the position of a Senior Grants Management Specialist before moving to KPMG. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of South Carolina, Masters Degree from the University of Maryland System and is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Policy and Administration.
