Toni Hoover, keynote speaker

Toni Hoover, Senior Vice President, Pfizer Global Research and Development Director, Groton/New London Laboratories

Toni Hoover is Senior Vice President and Director for Pfizer Global Research and Development (PGRD) Groton/New London Laboratories, where she is the general manager and senior leader responsible for creating the environment necessary for discovering and developing new medications to meet unmet medical needs.

Toni joined Pfizer in 2000 as Worldwide Portfolio Lead and Vice President of Global Project Management, providing key leadership in early and late-stage drug development activities for projects in the Neuroscience, Inflammation, and Metabolic Diseases therapeutic areas. This role included leading a large, multi-disciplinary team in the development and registration of Lyrica®, a drug for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, epilepsy, and generalized anxiety disorder. Prior to her current position, Toni was the Development Site Head for Michigan Laboratories and the Development Site Head for Groton/New London Laboratories.

In 2007 Toni was named one of the "Top 50 Women to Watch" by The Wall Street Journal and in 2004 she received the YMCA's Black Achiever in Industry Award. Toni is a member of the Pfizer Inc Diversity and Inclusion Committee; the Pfizer Global Women's Strategy Steering Committee, the Co-Leader of the Diversity and Inclusion Council for R & D; as well as executive sponsor of Groton/New London Laboratories African-American Network.

Originally from New Orleans, Toni received her BA, MA, and PhD in psychology from Harvard University where she trained in experimental psychopathology and neuropsychological assessment. Beginning with her role as a clinical scientist for Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division, Toni has had an impressive 20+ year career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Toni is a member of the board of directors for Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut and a member of the National Advisory Board of the University Musical Society affiliated with the University of Michigan. She is also a member of the Three Rivers Community College (Norwich, CT) Foundation Board of Directors, the Advisory Board of the Healthcare Businesswomen"s Association, the American Heart Association Founders Affiliate Board of Directors, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association Board of Directors, The Joyce Theater Foundation Board of Trustees, and the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) Board of Governors.
