JPG Your Web browser, or the image editing application of your choice Your web browser probably handles JPEG images. But if you are interested in the high resolution images available at this site, you may choose to configure your browser to have JPEG images handled by an application which allows you to pan and zoom on the downloaded image. Note that many of the images are 24-bit color images.
Portable Document Format

PDF Adobe Acrobat Reader, free from Adobe When you press "PDF," a PDF document should appear. If it does not, the Acrobat Reader is either not installed, not configured properly, or may be an old version. Once the Reader is properly installed, configure it as a plug-in to see search matches highlighted in PDF documents.

MOV Apple QuickTime viewer (PC and Mac), free from Apple When you press "MOV," a Quicktime movie should start playing (or download then start playing.) If it does not, the Quicktime player is either not installed, not configured properly, or may be an old version. Once the player is properly installed, configure it as a plug-in for streaming video. Note that the movies are 24-bit color movies.
RealAudio

RealVideo

RAM Real Player plug-in, free from Real Networks When you press "RAM," a Real Video should start playing. If it does not, the Real Player is either not installed, not configured properly, or may be an old version. Download, install and configure the player according to the instructions which accompany it. The same player handles audio and video. Audio and video are streaming. Note that the video is 24-bit color video.
