Disaster Registration Deadline Three Days Away

San Francisco, CA -- Napa County residents and business owners who were affected by the earthquake of September 3 and who have not yet registered for federal and state disaster assistance have only three more days to call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) teleregistration number. November 30, 2000 is the deadline to register for Individual Assistance disaster programs, according to federal and state disaster recovery officials.
"As the registration deadline approaches, we encourage homeowners, renters and business owners, who believe they sustained damage from the earthquake, to register for assistance," said Dallas Jones, director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES). "It is important that applicants leave determination of eligibility to state and federal program experts and not automatically disqualify themselves."
The number to call is the FEMA toll-free number 1-800-462-9029 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired." The telephone lines are in operation seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
"Even after the deadline, if a person has questions about their registration or the assistance available, FEMA is just a telephone call away," Mark Ghilarducci, federal coordinating officer said. "Representatives are available to answer questions Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (PST)." The FEMA Helpline numbers are 1-800-525-0321 or TTY 1-800-462-7585.
