MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Hurricane Katrina battered the Gulf Coast region almost two years ago. Today local, state and federal agencies are still working together to provide Alabama residents resources to rebuild their lives. More than $254 million was obligated for Mission Assignments, allowing for the shipment of 280 truckloads of ice, 186 of water, 103 of MREs, 11 of generators, 27 of cots and 32 truckloads of blankets into the state.

$275.4 million dollars in flood insurance claims has been disbursed by The National Flood Insurance Program.
