Summer Research Fellowship Program
Summer Research Fellowship Program StudentsThe Summer Research Fellowship Program is open to students from any of the nation's medical and dental schools. This program is intended to expose students to research procedures in a unique environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research and training. With guidance from scientists in the intramural research program, students conduct research in selected areas of laboratory investigation. In addition to participating in research projects, students attend lectures and seminars to enhance their education and develop investigative skills.

The program runs for a minimum of ten weeks, usually from early June to the end of August; some flexibility exists to accommodate individual student needs.

Students can apply for the program electronically at the NIH Research and Training web site http://www.training.nih.gov/student/sip/. Under Institute/Center preference (item no. 9), select the National Institute on Aging (Baltimore or Bethesda). After you submit the application, please send an email to the NIA Summer Program Office, niasummer@mail.nih.gov, to let them know that you have applied to the NIA Summer Program. Applications may be filed after November 15, 2008. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2009.
