A primary and ancillary study on glucosamine and/or chondroitin for the treatment of pain and structural damage associated with knee osteoarthritis. Published in NEJM 2006 and Arthritis Rheum 2008.
Echinacea for the Prevention and Treatment of Colds in Adults
A two phase, randomized placebo-controlled trial that tested different preparations of Echinacea (E. angustifolia) for the prevention and treatment of common colds in adults. Published in NEJM 2005.
Acupuncture for Osteoarthritis of the Knee
This large, landmark study examined the ability of acupuncture to relieve pain and improve function in people with osteoarthritis of the knee. Published in Ann Intern Med 2004.
St. John's Wort and Depression
A randomized, double-blind trial that compared a standardized preparation of St. John's Wort (H. perforatum) with a placebo and sertraline, for the treatment of major depression. Published in JAMA 2002.
