The HEME Small Business standing SEP reviews Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) grant applications concerned with basic research through clinical studies of hematology. Specific areas covered by this group:
- Development of hematological diagnostic devices and assays
- Storage of whole blood and its components, development of blood substitutes, and transfusion medicine
- Hematological stem cell culture, stem cell therapy and hematopoiesis
- Therapy for globin disorders
- Normal and pathologic hemostasis and thrombosis including hemophilia and gene therapy anticoagulated therapy
