Oversight and Accountability |
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) spells out clear reporting and certification requirements to ensure each state maintains strict accountability and transparency and in their use of federal economic recovery funds. In this section, we'll post information related to this important responsibility, including project certifications, reports, and other required documents.
Role of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO): The Recovery Act delineates an important oversight role for the GAO to ensure that federal economic recovery funds are used as specified in law. Michigan is one of 16 states the GAO will follow over the next few years to analyze how Recovery Act dollars are being spent. GAO will also review specific project areas, such as trade, education, small business, and health care, and comment on reports filed by fund recipients.
