Technology
Technological advances often allow us to do more with less. Recovery Act dollars will allow us to modernize the health care system and greatly reduce costs by implementing cutting edge health information technologies. Recovery Act resources will help Michigan build its broadband infrastructure, bringing the resources and connectivity of the internet to Michigan's rural communities.

• Broadband Initiative
Competitive grants for broadband deployment in un-served and underserved areas; includes competitive grants to expand public computer center capacity at community colleges and public libraries, to encourage adoption of broadband, and to establish the State Broadband Data and Development Grant program.

• Health Care IT
funding to modernize the health-care system by implementing the adoption of health information technology, which will reduce health-care costs for the federal government by over $12 billion over the next 10 years.
