What is Gov. Nixon’s Transform Missouri Initiative?

Gov. Nixon’s Transform Missouri Initiative is an ambitious plan to use federal recovery dollars to create jobs for Missourians now, and to transform our economy for the years to come. Transform Missouri focuses on expanding the three pillars that support Missouri’s economy: developing our human capital; enhancing our information and transportation infrastructure; and embracing emerging technologies. How do I use this site?

Transform.mo.gov is a central Web site for Missourians to come together to share ideas about how to create jobs and transform our economy for the 21st century. On this Web site, individuals, businesses, non-profit groups, local governments and others can submit proposals for potential projects that might benefit from federal stimulus funds. These submissions will be shared with state and local government officials and other organizations, and information provided is subject to the provisions of the Sunshine Law (Chapter 610, RSMo). You can also share your idea and link to other Web sites for additional information.

Is my project submission a formal application?

No. Transform.mo.gov is collecting information to help make sure potential applicants get information, when it becomes available, about where and how to apply for funds. No applications for funding are being accepted at this time.

How will Gov. Nixon and other officials use my suggestions?

To truly transform Missouri’s economy, everyone must be involved. Gov. Nixon is committed to hearing from Missourians from all backgrounds and walks of life, and to ensuring that everyone’s best interests are represented as resources from the federal recovery act are made available. Often, the best policy ideas come from outside the halls of government. On this Web site, you can provide accurate, detailed information about transformation projects that could make a real difference for the people in your community. In many cases, the information you submit will be shared with state and local government officials as well as others who will be involved in screening and selecting federally funded projects.

How long can we submit ideas?

Transform.mo.gov began accepting submissions on Feb. 23. Gov. Nixon’s office will announce an end date once additional details about the funding process become available.

Who is eligible to submit proposals?

All citizens, groups, businesses, non-profit organizations, local governments and others can submit their project proposals and share their stories on this Web site. All proposals should outline clearly how they will create jobs for Missourians and transform our state’s economy in the years to come.

Can I submit multiple proposals?

Of course. We want all the good ideas we can get. Each proposal should be submitted on a separate form, and each proposal must have a designated contact person.
