The tiny Ocean State has already started spending part of its $1.1 billion share of the $787 billion recovery program. It was one of the first states to put more money in the pockets of the jobless, pumping an additional $1 million a month into the local economy by increasing weekly unemployment benefits by $25. And it is moving quickly to get $137 million in infrastructure projects up and running.
The Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board and the Office of Management and Budget in partnership with the National Academy of Public Administration, is currently hosting a week-long national online dialogue to engage leading information technology (IT) vendors, thinkers, and consumers in answering a key question: What ideas, tools, and approaches can make Recovery.gov a place where all citizens can transparently monitor the expenditure and use of recovery funds?
Governor Carcieri, State of Rhode Island
Welcome to www.recovery.ri.gov, the official website for Rhode Island’s Office of Economic Recovery and Reinvestment. We encourage you to visit this site often, as it will be updated frequently.
On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which is designed to jumpstart the economy, create and protect jobs, and invest in key priorities.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act presents enormous opportunities for Rhode Island to move forward. As Governor, I want to take full advantage of the opportunities while being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. I am working closely with the General Assembly, our Congressional delegation, and our cities and towns to maximize the federal stimulus dollars available to Rhode Island, and to get our economy moving again.
This portal has been designed to be the central point of information for all activities related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
