    Impact for Iowa

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has the potential to provide more than $2.5 billion in economic assistance to Iowa, in important areas such as health care, education, and infrastructure. The following chart lists the major areas in which this program will benefit Iowans. The chart represents funding in nine major ARRA areas consisting of formula, competitive and demand-based funding. Definitions for each of the different types of ARRA funding can be found on the FAQ page.

Formula-Based - Funding is allocated by an established federal formula to States and localities.
Demand-Based - Funding responds directly to demand from eligible individuals. The dollar amount Iowa receives will vary according to the number of people who qualify and receive the funding. Current estimates project out the total Iowa expects to receive. These numbers may change as actual funds are distributed.
Competitive Proposal Estimates - Funding is allocated through competitive solicitations federally. As the name suggests, any applications for projects submitted by a state agency directly or on behalf of the state go through a competitive selection process, therefore, these estimates are not guaranteed until selected.
