U.S. Labor Department Announces Release of Nearly $10.5 Million in Unemployment Insurance Modernization Incentive Funds to New Hampshire
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor has certified for release $10,467,073 in unemployment insurance (UI) modernization incentive funds to the state of New Hampshire. New Hampshire qualified for the funds available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) by allowing workers to use their more recent earnings to qualify for benefits. New Hampshire's approved application will be posted at the department's Employment and Training Administration Web site.

NIST Announces Three-Phase Plan for Smart Grid Standards, Paving Way for More Efficient, Reliable Electricity
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - As part of the Obama Administration's commitment to moving the nation toward energy independence, the U.S. Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced today a three-phase plan to expedite development of key standards for a Smart Grid, a nationwide network that uses information technology to deliver electricity efficiently, reliably, and securely. The recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) contains investments critical to spurring the Smart Grid development process.

New NIH Recovery Act Opportunity Seeks to Fund High Impact, Large-Scale, Accelerated Research
Goal to Promote Growth and Investment in Biomedical R&D, Public Health and Health Care Delivery
The National Institutes of Health highlighted a new funding opportunity under the Recovery Act that will support approximately $200 million in large-scale research projects that have a high likelihood of enabling growth and investment in biomedical research and development, public health and health care delivery. The purpose of this new program, the Research and Research Infrastructure "Grand Opportunities" (GO), is to support high impact ideas that lend themselves to short-term funding and may lay the foundation for new fields of scientific inquiry.
