Indiana Partners for Character Education (IPCE)

The Indiana Partners for Character Education (IPCE) is piloting two models of character education to meet the needs of different age groups, Kids Care and Students Who Care. Both models have the following elements in common:

  • Strong family and community involvement;
  • Staff development;
  • Integration of character education into school climate and the academic curriculum, including the use of instructional technology to improve academic skills;
  • Dissemination of project results and products; and
  • Ongoing and final assessment of program effectiveness.

The Indiana Department of Education assists the schools with pilot programs, oversees the dissemination and assessment components, and maintains a clearinghouse for character education.
