What's New
The FY 2009 Request for Designation as an Eligible Institution for Title III and Title V Programs and the Request for a Waiver of the Non-Federal Cost Share Requirement is available. The deadline for eligibility designation is February 20, 2009 and the deadline for institutions filing a waiver of cost sharing is April 6, 2009.
A competition for grant funding will be held in Fiscal Year 2009; closing date to be determined.

Program Description

The purpose of the Predominantly Black Institutions Undergraduate Program is to support the strengthening of predominantly Black institutions to carry out programs in the following areas:

  • Science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • Health education
  • Internationalization or globalization
  • Teacher preparation; or
  • Improving educational outcomes of African-American males

Types of Projects

Two-year projects that establish or strengthen programs at predominantly Black institutions that are designed to increase the institution's capacity to prepare students for instruction in the above noted fields.
