Current Competitions: Awards are made to states on a formula basis.

Only state boards for career and technical education are eligible to apply for state basic grants. The distribution of funds within a state is directed to priority items established by the state in accordance with an approved state plan for vocational-technical education. Eligible recipients for sub-grants under the State Basic Grants are local educational agencies and postsecondary institutions.
