North Carolina’s State plan was originally not in compliance with the requirements for receiving the enhanced FMAP, but working together over the past twenty-four hours, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the state were able to resolve the outstanding issue and FMAP funds will be available to North Carolina. FMAP funding helps pay for health care for the families hit hard by the economic crisis and some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. More than 49 million Americans rely on Medicaid for health care coverage and this funding could help 20 million more Americans get covered.
