Girl on Bike Program Overview

Climate change is one of the most serious environmental problems facing the United States and the world. Many are seeking ways to take important steps to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions contributing to this problem. Some individuals are looking for simple, everyday steps. Others are ready to try new things and new ideas. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offers trusted solutions for both.

Since 1992, thousands of organizations have stepped up and participated in EPA's ENERGY STAR® program by manufacturing and selling ENERGY STAR qualified products, constructing ENERGY STAR qualified new homes, and pursuing significant improvements in homes, buildings, and industrial facilities across the country. Consumers have purchased more than 2 billion ENERGY STAR qualified products, more than 800,000 ENERGY STAR qualified new homes have been sold, and thousands have renovated buildings and older homes following EPA's guidelines for energy efficiency. Through ENERGY STAR. EPA encourages everyone to take advantage of proven, cost-effective products and practices.

These collective efforts have reduced energy use and carbon emissions. But our environment is at risk, and our demand for energy continues to rise. Accelerating progress in the fight against global warming requires more solutions. Climate Choice technologies offer the next step toward the solution.

While exciting and innovative, these products will be more expensive initially than those available through the ENERGY STAR program. They may also be relatively more complex to properly install and operate. As demand for these technologies grows and prices drop, more consumers will get on board.
