The Quarterly Coal Report (QCR) provides detailed quarterly data on U.S. coal production, distribution, exports, imports, receipts, prices, consumption, stocks, synfuel, and quality. Data on US. coke production, distribution, exports, imports, and consumption are also provided.

Highlights for the 3rd Quarter of 2008:

  • Record coal production—at a total of 299 million short tons.
  • Lower exports—than 2nd quarter 2008 by 2.7 million short tons.
  • Higher domestic consumption—than 2nd quarter 2008 by 31.1 million short tons.
  • Lower coal stocks—than 2nd quarter 2008 by 9.8 million short tons.
