Current Research
My research revolves around estimating and projecting carbon estimates and their uncertainties in the forest sector of the United States. Early on, our research team provided estimates that were used by the U.S. government for reporting greenhouse gas emissions and sinks, and we continue to be asked to provide estimates to meet a variety of needs. Currently, our approach is based on Forest Inventory and Analysis data. The U.S. releases approximately a quarter of the world's greenhouse gas emissions which increasingly is believed to be causing climate change. My work shows that US forests sequester a significant amount of carbon, and helps the US monitor changes over time.
Future Research
- All land management and use potentially contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and sinks. Future research will address these land use and land use changes.
