The National Weather Service in Huntsville created an initial database of all severe weather events reported across its County Warning Area in 2002. Intern Meteorologist Kurt Weber compiled the data and from it and created a severe weather climatology for the Tennessee Valley. You can view his complete paper here.

Since then, the tornado climatology has been updated to include all tornadoes that have affected the Huntsville County Warning Area through December of 2008. To view updated tornado climatological charts and information through December of 2008, click here.

Note: The three sources above were used to obtain a list of all confirmed severe weather events in the Huntsville CWA. This is not a list of all severe weather events that have ever affected this area. Many events occur that are never reported because they were isolated in nature.
