Image Number D595-2

Asian citrus psyllid nymphs developing on HLB-infected trees can acquire the disease just before reaching the adult stage and can immediately transmit the disease to uninfected trees. In contrast, an adult that is not infected with HLB must feed on an infected tree for many days before it becomes infected with the bacterium.
