Andahwod new building opens

On October 16, 2007 when the ribbon was cut, the brand new Andahwod senior care facility officially opened it's doors. View a short video of the ceremony here, which also includes a peek inside the facility.

“Our mission was to create a multi-purpose Elders Facility,” said Senior Program Director Lisa Kennedy during the June 9 senior facility ground breaking ceremony. Construction of the $15 million project—situated on 21 acres off of Leaton Road south of Broadway—began later in the summer. The event also included a blessing from Seventh Generation Cultural Representative Kent Jackson, song offered from Hunter Genia, as well as the Snowbirds (pictured). The Anishnabe Ogitchedaw Veteran and Warriors Society also attended the event, as did dozens of local dignitaries and officials. Click here for a short video representing the groundbreaking.
