Louisiana
- Jumpstart AmeriCorps members are finding shelters within the Jumpstart area to provide needy families with school supplies, clothing, hygiene kits and food.
District of Columbia
- 7 AmeriCorps members are serving as case managers at the Katrina Resource Center.
Iowa
- RSVP of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is actively involved in the area Voluntary Organization Active in Disasters and local Citizen Corps Councils and has developed comprehensive plans for providing services for hurricane evacuees.
Ohio
- VISTA members at Baldwin-Wallace College are working to coordinate student organizations in Katrina relief efforts.
- RSVP of Lake County collected $530 for the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross for Katrina relief. Also, RSVP of Lake County volunteers are assisting at drop-off points for collections of donated goods.
Oklahoma
- TwoBryan County RSVP volunteers traveled to the Sherman, Texas, evacuation center to collect items and sort clothes and supplies. An additional 6 Bryan County RSVP volunteers helped with local blood drives.
Rhode Island
- Washington County RSVP volunteers from Charlestown are collecting donations to be transported to Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana by an RSVP member in late October.Every item will be cataloged, marked, and ready for distribution.
West Virginia
- RSVP volunteers with the Morgantown Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners (BOPARC) are providing activities for evacuees at Camp Dawson in Preston County.
